Toyosi Achieves Great Feat, Becomes First Female President

Renowned Nigerian Philanthropist, Lion Toyosi Ololade has placed side by side the love of mankind demonstrated by helping the needy through contributions and giving in form of money, time and material.

Toyosi who has over the years supported life changing causes to build a peaceful and better society as a way of assisting the government to achieve a new Nigeria was decorated as the 7th/1st female president of the Lagos Magodo Lions Club on February 25th 2024. The grand breaking event held at the prestigious Airport Hotel with the creme de la creme in attendance.

An array of dignitaries including the chairman of the occasion Amb. A.T Williams, mother of the day, Mrs Ibilola Adekunle, Mr. Olalekan Oluponna, 1st vice president of Lagos Magodo, Mr. Tokunbo Abudu, Chief Emeka Ossai, Dr. Lion Folashade Shotimide, 1st District Governor of Lions Club International, Mr. Amodu, Prince Matami, Lion Jafaru, Mrs Toyin Araoye, Hajia Ara, Lion Chima, Mrs Nike Olukanni- Kuku, Lion Olawale Afolabi, Mr, Gbenga Awe, Lion Tunji Oredipe, Chief of staff Lions Club International, Mrs Funmi Tunji Idowu, PDG Alex Otutume NLCF, PMJF, Mr. Godson Ukwete, Group Managing Director – Vecta Travels and Skyblue, Mrs Toun Okewale-Sonaiya extolled Toyosi’s laudable achievements.

It was indeed a gathering of high-profile dignitaries, and the mammoth of crowd was stunned by the assembly of top politicians and socialites including Lion Sen. Otunba Gbenga Daniels, RT. Hon. (Dr.) Ibrahim Ayokunle Isiaka (MHR), Hon. Waleeh Adekunle Ipaye, Chief Olatunbosun Adeniyi Kuku, Mrs Ibilola Adekunle, Chief Mrs Ibilola Solaja, who graced the event as special guest of honor.

The guest speaker, Mr. Niyi Yusuf who spoke on the topic ‘How you spend your resources’, in his address emphasized on the power of compounding interest. Yusuf further spoke about breaking down inflation rate in Nigeria.

Speaking with Global Affairs Magazine in an exclusive interview Toyosi posited that she wants to be a blessing to others so she invited her friends to raise N25,000,000 to enable her continue supporting the government with her charity project.

“I just want to be grateful to God. It’s something I should have done last year but I just decided to hold on till now because I want to come up with a program that will be a blessing to order people. You can see that we brought the blind people. I just want to be a blessing and I’m so glad that I did.

“I could see smiles on everybody’s faces the joyous mood of everyone makes me happy and that’s enough for me because that’s what I really want.” She said.

Speaking on the N25,000,000 fundraising she postulates that they recently held a massive humanitarian project and other communities are calling for their help.

“We recently held a humanitarian program that took care of people with diabetes and other health issues, the community came back and asked us to build them toilet. They also want us to take care of primary schools in the community.”

Speaking further about what she has done for the past 8months she said she provided Literacy for school children, distributed writing materials, school bags for the children. According to her, she also did a lot on healthcare.

“We did screenings and test on diabetes, hapithities, maleria, typhoid and so many sicknesses and diseases, we gave them drugs and the turnout was massive. That for me was a big one. We do hunger project. We feed people, we distribute food stuffs to the needy. We do empowerment. We train people on skills acquisition and empower them.” She enthused.


When asked about that special thing that qualified her as the first female president she said; I guess it’s my zeal and I’m a goal getter.

On his path the governor, Lion Shakirudeen Balogun spoke highly of Toyosi, describing her as an amazing leader.

“Lion Toyosi Ololade has exhibited a lot of leadership trait and her club found her worthy to be the president.

” Lion Toyosi is simply an amazing leader that I love, respect and adore and I wish her all the best as she continue to climb until she gets to the peak of her career.”

Speaking about the club he said;

“The investiture of a lion is not only to showcase the president but to use the avenue to recruit members and to raise fund for various laudable project that the club. Presidency of a lion is just for only one year. From July 1st to June 30th. The club members found her worthy to be the leader.

“In lion’s club the very day you join the club you are a potential leader because lion’s club international is a platform for you to be groomed to become leaders in future. We have series of trainings to prepare you for leadership growth.

“In lion’s club we carry out a lot of projects. If the project is less capital intensive we raise the fund amongst ourselves but if it’s capital intensive we solicit support from members of the society. Sometimes we even solicit for grant from the head office.

“We have done several intervention programs in Nigeria we have gone to different teaching hospitals or general hospitals you will see the signature of our projects.

“We are into humanitarian service and we believe the government cannot do it alone so we support the government.

The only support we need from the government is an enabling environment for us to render service to humanity.” He concluded.

Mr. Tosin oyenusi, President Lagos Eko Lions club who spoke with Global Affairs Magazine said The Lions club is here to intervene and help government solve some of the challenges.

“Where there’s a need there’s a Lion. It started from the US and it spread globally.

“One of our core project is feeding the hungry. We identify the poorest in the community.

Describing the first female president he said Toyosi is the best among all the lions.

Lion Ahmed Ajayi, the Global service team coordinator who described Toyosi as a goal getter and a humanitarian with a difference said “Lions club is a service organization and it’s the largest service organization in the world with over 1.4million members and we render service to humanity. We are in over 200 countries and in all the geographical locations we have over 400 Lion club in Nigeria with 6 district.”

A lot of blind people that have benefited from the Philanthropist were sighted at the event.Toyosi also urged the rich to come to the rescue of people living with disabilities as well as the downtrodden.
