EFCC Raids Dangote Lagos Office Over FX Deal

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on search operations on Thursday raided the Lagos head office of the Dangote Group.

It was gathered that the offi­cers conducted a search on forex allocations to the company during the tenure of Godwin Emefiele as governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

It was gathered that the op­eratives of the EFCC requested documents related to forex alloca­tions to the group from 2015 to the time Emefiele was suspended by President Bola Tinubu and sub­sequently arrested by the agents of the Department of States Ser­vices (DSS) in June 2023.

Obazee investigative team was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to examine past financial malfeasances in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as part of measures to fortify Government Business Entities (GBEs).

The investigative team was mandated to take steps to ensure the strengthening and probity of key Government Business Enti­ties (GBEs), further block leakag­es in CBN and related GBEs and provide a comprehensive report on public wealth currently in the hands of corrupt individuals and establishments (whether private or public).
